Author: Admin  |  Category: Betting

Betting in sports is not just fun, it can also be quite profitable when done right, and in this article, we are offering you a selection of tips that will certainly make it easier for you to win your wagers. Lets see:Golden Rule of Betting: Do not wager cash that you simply cannot afford to lose. This is a simple theory, but it is surprising how often people will bet money they were not prepared to miss from their pockets. When you wager, be prepared to lose, so you dont get surprised when you actually do so. If you do this, you will learn to be balanced, which will allow to always counting with enough funds to place key bets at key moments.Avoid large parlays: if you are not too fond of checking statistics and similar elements, avoid to put your money on parlays of 6 or more teams, as even though they will end up making you more cash, they are also tougher to win.Do not bet on cups or friendly matches: Betting on cups means that it will be hard for you to predict results, as you can never be 100% sure about which teams truly have the desire to win, as some of them might be more focus on other tourneys, and when it comes to wagering on a friendly match, it is a fact that teams tend to underperform before there is nothing at stake, which is why you cannot be sure who to put your money on such type of game.Consider David vs Goliath: When the teams that are placed at the top play those which are placed at the bottom, you might think that playing the team that is considered the best is foolproof, but the truth is that when a low ranked squad is playing at home, they will do everything they can to please their crowd, winning the match as a result.Betting the draw: When betting on football soccer, you are used to bet for an away or a home win, but in reality, you are offered 3 wagering options, not just two, and that third one is the draw, so do not forget that the next time you are looking to wager on an interesting soccer match.Dont let your heart decide: When you place a wager, remember that your main objective is that one of obtaining a profit, which is why you dont have to get sentimental, even if this means to bet against your favorite team or player when the time is right.Betting the home team: Statistics shows that betting on home teams have more chances of converting into profits, as they have the support of their crowd, do not need to travel and are more rested and are familiarized with their stadium, which means that they have the best chances of winning the game.Avoid betting when there is nothing on dispute: When everything is said and done and teams does not have the chance of advancing to the next stage, they are playing without passion, and it is difficult to say who the winner is going to be, which is why you should avoid playing these kind of fixtures.Previous matches and injuries: Before you place your bet, check on the previous matches results concerning the two teams playing together, and also check online for the health status of key players, as these elements can really become crucial.Do it for placer: Although you need to keep all the previous points in mind, when wagering, do it for the fun of it, and you will not just make cash, but will also have a great time doing it.

Inquiry ordered into video of US troops urinating on Taliban fighters

Author: Admin  |  Category: Uncategorized

Thursday, January 12, 2012

The United States Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has ordered an investigation into a video allegedly showing US Marines urinating on dead Taliban fighters. Panetta has called the videos “utterly deplorable” and not appropriate conduct for United States armed forces personnel. Afghan president Hamid Karzai called for “the most severe punishment for anyone found guilty in this crime.”

The video shows four men apparently dressed in US Marine uniforms urinating on three dead bodies. In it the men are heard saying “Have a great day, buddy” and “hope you like your shower“. The exact date the video was taken is unknown. It appeared on internet sites, including YouTube. The photographing or video taking of human casualties is specifically forbidden by the US military’s code of conduct.

A statement by Coalition Forces said the men in uniform probably aren’t in Afghanistan anymore; the US Marine Corps has since stated they aren’t. The coalition statement also reiterated the Department of Defense’s stance, saying “this behavior dishonors the sacrifices and core values of every service member representing the 50 nations of the coalition…. Any individuals with confirmed involvement will be held fully accountable.”

The incident will be investigated by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) which investigates criminal matters for the US Navy.

The Taliban responded by saying “First they killed the Afghans with mortars, and they then urinated on their bodies. We strongly condemn this inhumane action by the wild American soldiers.”

Business And The Forex

Author: Admin  |  Category: Money Transfer

Submitted by: Michael Sanford

The business world is a complex web of supply and demand. Money and goods, physical or otherwise, pass through the global market every single day. To meet this exchange between one country and another, foreign exchange, or forex, was born. The term forex is used to refer to transactions involving the conversion of money of one country into that of another or to the international transfer of money and credit instruments.

Foreign exchange, or forex, is used because different nations have different monetary units, and the currency of one country cannot be used for making payments in another country. Because of trade, travel, and other transactions between individuals and business enterprises of different countries, it becomes necessary to convert money into the currency of other countries in order to pay for goods or services in those countries. The transfer of money values from one country to another and the determination of the price at which the currency of one country will be surrendered for that of another is one of the main functions of forex.

Forex is a commodity, and its price fluctuates in accordance with supply and demand; exchange rates are published daily in every major newspapers of the world. When the exchange rate is floating, free of government intervention, the rate of the forex, or the price of the currency of one country in terms of that of another, will depend on overall supply and demand and on the relative purchasing power of the two currencies. The forex value will depend on the competitive position of the two countries in world markets. If country has a certain commodity that another country is dependent on, its forex will be significantly higher than the latter. Gold, oil, and exports are just a few of these commodities influencing a country’s forex.

Forex is also dictated at times by speculation of dealers, brokers, or others. What they predict becomes a major influence on forex. However, the government has the power to prevent the forex from crashing. Its gold value and country’s wealth raises help the forex value. The aim of government’s control is to limit the demand for and to increase the supply of forex in order to maintain a stable exchange rate. Control usually provides for allocating forex only for approved imports and requires that all or part of the forex derived from exports or other sources be given to the central bank in exchange for local currency.

Forex is seen as the trading tool of different countries. To stabilize and increase the forex of one country will mean a lot of economic changes. The proper allocation of funds, the stock market condition and the nation’s marketable wealth will determine the future of its forex rate. Understanding the forex rate is relatively simple. Using one country’s forex, i.e. the dollar, we can determine the wealth standing of a country. Say the forex rate of a pound to the dollar is 80, while the dollar to the pound is 65. This means that the pound is more stable and richer that the dollar because of the 15 value difference.

The country’s stability and political scene can also influence it forex rate. Investors bring in a lot of money, which equates to additional wealth for the country. Once that country is not able to guarantee stability, political and economy-wise, these people can take their investments out and leave the forex rate crippled.

US stock markets tumble on ‘Black Monday’ anniversary

Author: Admin  |  Category: Uncategorized

Saturday, October 20, 2007

This article features in a News Brief from Audio Wikinews:

Some say history tends to repeat itself. Today marked a day in history, when 20 years ago, the United States Dow Jones Industrial Average market crashed, on what is known as ‘Black Monday‘. The crash sent the market tumbling down 508 points, losing nearly 24%. On Friday, the Dow Jones nearly broke that record when the market closed at -366.94 points, down almost three percent.

Several factors could be to blame for the loss, one being Turkey’s government approving a measure on October 18 to send Turkish troops into Iraq in an attempt to take out militants of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK). This sent oil prices skyrocketing to the highest prices in history, with the highest record being just over US$89.00, which was set on October 18.

Fears that the housing market in the U.S. has come to a standstill has also lead Caterpillar Inc., which manufactures and sells construction equipment to issue a warning that the standstill would cause profits to drop, and the American economy to be severely hurt. On Friday their stocks lost nearly six percent to close at $73.57.

Investors and experts of the markets are disturbed by the losses calling the situation ugly.

“It’s pretty ugly. A company like Caterpillar should be a poster child for global growth and benefits of the weak dollar. It makes you question: Is global growth really that strong? Has the earnings kick from the weak dollar played itself out?” said Bell Curve Trading chief strategy expert, Bill Strazzullo.

Others believe that the losses were a way of emotionally responding to the events of ‘Black Monday.’

“Some of the earnings reports were a little disappointing but not that bad. I think we’re responding emotionally to the 20th anniversary of the October 1987 stock market crash. I’d like to laugh except it hurts,” said T Rowe Price Head trader, Andy Brooks.

The NASDAQ also took heavy losses to close down 74.15 points or -2.64%, closing at 2,725.16. The S&P 500 was also hit hard, losing 39.45 points, or -2.56%, closing at 1,500.63.

4-year-old boy killed by dog in Liverpool, England

Author: Admin  |  Category: Uncategorized

Tuesday, December 1, 2009

A four-year-old boy has been killed by a dog in the city of Liverpool in Merseyside, England. The child has been identified as John Paul Massey. The animal belonged to his uncle. The boy’s 63-year-old grandmother Helen Foulkes tried to protect the boy but ended up getting bitten by the dog in the process. She had to receive hospital treatment for the injury.

The dog itself was shot dead in the front garden of the house where the attack had taken place. The police had said that they did not take further action after receiving a report about dog breeding earlier this year.

Chief Superintendent Steve Ashley from the police force said about the incident: “In February this year a housing officer rang Merseyside Police to say they had received complaints of dog breeding at the address. At that time the police said it wasn’t a police matter and no action was taken by Merseyside Police.

That is contrary to our policies and an investigation is now launched into exactly what happened in February.”

They are cheap, useful, and very plentiful, and that is exactly the problem, according to researchers. A report issued on Feb. 23 by a cadre of environment and economics researchers suggested that Kenya should ban the common plastic bag that one gets at the checkout counter of grocery stores, and place a levy on other plastic bags, all to combat the country’s environmental problems stemming from the bags’ popularity.

When Short Term Health Insurance Is Be A Smart Solution}

Author: Admin  |  Category: Finance Specialists

Submitted by: Nash Bauder

Since the health law took effect, short-term health insurance plans have become very popular, especially among young adults, people who have a gap in employer insurance or those who have missed open enrollment under the Affordable Care Act.

There are a few major reasons why this plans are appealing:

– They cost much less than major medical plans;

– They can be purchased at any time during the year to provide temporary coverage while you are waiting for an employer or government sponsored insurance;

– They start almost immediately;

– They provide access to broader network of health service providers including many major medical centers;

– Often they are more flexible than ACA-compliant health plans.

– Other advantages of short term plans you can find at: http://1healthinsurance.org/short-term/

But you should clearly understand that short-term health insurance is not for everyone. It can work well for one person and be a completely wrong choice for another. It is not recommended for people with poor health or certain chronic conditions because they wont get sufficient coverage by short-term medical insurance. Also, people who have had serious health problems in the past two years shall look for other types of health insurance because pre-existing conditions are not covered by term policies.

Still short-term medical insurance can be a reasonable solution for many people in need of temporary health coverage while going through some of lifes transitions.

NEW EMPLOYEES WAITING FOR NEW JOB BENEFITS TO BEGIN

If you have recently found a new job, you may have to wait some time for your employer-sponsored insurance to begin. It can be a smart decision to buy a short-term plan for a month or two to avoid being completely uncovered during this period.

YOUNG ADULTS NO LONGER COVERED THROUGH THEIR PARENTS PLAN

Though the federal health care reform law allows children to be covered as a dependent up to their 26, some day children must be removed from their parents plans. If you are no longer covered through your parents insurance and still dont have a permanent job, short-term insurance may serve you well, especially if you are healthy enough.

RECENT COLLEGE GRADUATES

A lot of college students find themselves without a medical coverage after graduation. If you were insured under a university plan or under your parents one, you are no longer eligible for them after leaving a college. You may fill this gap in coverage with short-term insurance until benefits begin with your first full-time job.

PEOPLE BETWEEN JOBS

When you leave your job, you also lose your employer-sponsored health benefits. Many people find it too expensive to continue their employer-sponsored plan through COBRA. A short-term plan may be a good alternative for medical coverage while you are looking for new job.

PART-TIME OR TEMPORARY WORKERS

If you work on a part-time, seasonal or temporary job you are typically not eligible for employer health benefits, while private ACA-compliant plans can be too expensive for you. In this case short-term medical may give you reasonable coverage.

EARLY RETIREES TOO YOUNG FOR MEDICARE

Individuals who have retired before the age of 65, may be faced with a gap in coverage before their Medicare begins. You can consider a short-term insurance as a suitable solution until your Medicare coverage starts.

U.S. CITIZENS RETURNING FROM OVERSEAS

Term insurance offers reasonable temporary protection from medical expenses for people returning to the U.S. from living abroad.

RECENT U.S.IMMIGRANTS

If you have recently become a U.S. citizen, you may have a waiting period before becoming eligible to get a government-sponsored health plans. Short-tetm medical can be a good option for you to have U.S. coverage.
